Planting the fall crop

Radishes, beets, lettuce, spinach, cauliflower, and onions. I have planted radishes about 12 times and every time they are devoured by little white worms. I don't even think radishes are that amazing of a veggie. Okay - pretty good in a salad, but really - what else are they good for? Sandwiches? I can't think of anything else. But now things have gotten personal between me and the maggots. I am extremely competitive and can't stand to lose at anything, including growing radishes. So I have planted them again . . . with a new strategy (well not really, but I just wanted to say that. I actually did the exact same thing I always do, just throw them in the dirt and say a little prayer).
