This is our busy time on the farm - thousands of pieces of fruit to pick up, the leaves have started falling, and putting the garden to rest for the next several months is a ton of work. We are happy to report that we still have some things growing in the garden - lettuce, spinach, arugula, parsley, cilantro, pumpkins, and two kinds of squash.

Long days
Happy October! It is nearing the time of year when we move the chickens from their outdoor coop to their barn coop . . . to keep them a little bit warmer and to save us from having to let them in and out each morning and night. It is kind of a bummer because they do add a certain something to the farm - - watching them scratch the compost pile for bugs or perch themselves on a fence post. They are impossible to photograph because they are always on the move, but here is two of "the ladies" headed into the field one morning this past week.
